First I must say I am a big Alan Parsons fan. The man is a genius. Next, your essay reminds me that I have become two different people over time. As a writer, I am more cautious with my thoughts and more sensible. My non-writing side is prone to shoot from the hip. Since I had life-saving surgery I tend to be less tolerant of outright stupidity disguised as efforts to seem noble and a great humanitarian. The reality is that the world is a dangerous place and it feasts on fools. If you see someone making foolish statements, call them out.

Agreed, Tom. We’re enduring a “Moveable Feast” of fools. I simply had no idea how devouring it all was in these Dis-United States of America, 1980 to the present.

I definitely am circumspect in my writing, though I am going to try to be less so if I keep up with my Substack into an advanced age I am nearing, and wondering how I made it this far. But at this point in life, who am I writing for but myself, except for slight ego gratification? I might as well go back to a print journal and bare my soul there for the first time.
